Gen 4: OverviewExeggutor, one of the most underrated pokemon in today’s metagame, just one Sunny Day is all this Pokemon needs to wreck havoc throughout your opponents team, a 6-0 from an Exeggutor can be conjured quite easily after this pokemon sets up.

Probably the most common, yet devastating set the mighty Exeggutor can wield. The main purpose of the set is to exploit that amazing ability “Chlorophyll” and his mammoth Special Attack. HP Fire over HP Ice and Ground, the reason being is HP Fire gets a respected boost from Sunny Day and can bring down opposing grass and steel pokemon, who usually wall the standard grass onslaught.
HP Ice leaves you defenseless against steels and HP Ground makes you defenseless against Celebi.
Sleep Powder can be used to ease the process of setting up Sunny Day while Explosion proves helpful against Blisseys who generally stop Exeggutors in their tracks. Life Orb gives HP Fire the opportunity to OHKO a Celebi after hindered by stealth rock damage.
After a single Sunny Day Exeggutors speed goes to 400+ and has access to a 120 bp STAB move which doesn’t have to charge up and has no hindering effects. All this running off it’s colossal attack can prove a handful for the opponents.
Ability | Nature | Item | HP | Atk. | Def. | SpAtk. | SpDef. | Speed
Chlorophyll | Brave / Quiet | life orb / focus sash | 0 | 252 | 4 | 252 | 0 | 0

An interesting set to use, thus very effective, especially on a slow team where Trick can be used to help out everyone’s speed issues. Basically you’ll be sending him in, send something to sleep and set up trick room and hopefully explode and get a kill so then your slow MONSTER like a Tyranitar can cause chaos through your opponents ranks. Very viable set, should use some consideration, especially if your running big hard hitting slow pokemon.
Ability | Nature | Item | HP | Atk. | Def. | SpAtk. | SpDef. | Speed
Chlorophyll | Modest | choice specs | 0 | 0 | 4 | 252 | 0 | 252

A leaf storm with STAB, base 125 SpA and Choice specs not only rivals a SpecsMence Draceo Meteor but in fact surpasses it in pure power. Hard to get into the battle but once in can rip enemies in half, and if a Blissey or another threat is troubling you, explosion always proves to be a reliable solution to the situation.
HP Ice is NOT required as Psychic can take hefty chunks out of dragons. The third move slot is up to your preference, HP Ground for Heatran and friends while HP Fire hurts Celebi and OHKO’s Skarmory and Scizor.
Ability | Nature | Item | HP | Atk. | Def. | SpAtk. | SpDef. | Speed
Chlorophyll | Jolly | life orb / leftovers | 0 | 252 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 252

This set may look like a gimmick as Exeggutor has a mammoth SpA and a somewhat average Atk, but with the assistance of Swords Dance, this set can actually get a few surprise kills in very needy situations. This set works extremely well with Sunny Day up on the field, send in Exeggutor, Swords Dance as the opponent switches to their Special Sponge or an appropriate counter and attempt a sweep hitting with the two STAB moves in Zen Head butt and Hammer Arm.
You can also just send in Exeggutor on any opponent, put it to sleep then SD and proceed to sweep if that options proves easier at the time, with these EV’s after Sunny Day is set up, it outruns Base 100 Speed Scarfed Pokemon.
Ability | Nature | Item | HP | Atk. | Def. | SpAtk. | SpDef. | Speed

Exeggutor has some handy resistances in fighting/ground ect. so a support set can easily work and be viable in OU. Defensively he is inferior to his Psychic/Grass Defensive counterpart Celebi, but with access to explosion and wish he can prove to be handy in certain situations.
The plan is to send him in on a bulky water or defensive ground type, sleep it and wish pass around, any sight of a special sponge you can blow up in its face to take mass damage. Light Screen, Reflect or Leech Seed can be used instead of Wish as further support options.
Ability | Nature | Item | HP | Atk. | Def. | SpAtk. | SpDef. | Speed
Chlorophyll | Modest | leftovers / life orb | 0 | 4 | 0 | 252 | 0 | 252

This set is intended to be used in Standard Ubers Battles and is meant to be used in conjunction with Groudons “Drought” ability. It abuses Chlorophyll to the extent that it can quickly sleep almost anything and can blow up in there face quickly to at least get one kill. Thief can take opponents Leftovers, choice specs and choice bands which are all very welcomed items. Taking a Soul Dew from a Lati-twin can also prove very useful. Remember, don’t equip him with an item if your using thief.

Other OptionsReflect and Light Screen for further support, Ancient Power for Moltres and Charizard and Sludge Bomb hurts grass types harder but poor coverage otherwise.
Usual CountersThe awesome thing about Exeggutors is, that the opponent is NEVER safe. Who knows if it will put you to sleep, paralyze you, blow up in your face, set up Sunny Day and sweep, set up Swords Dance ect. Exeggutor has so many viable options and he is so unpredictable that you need to know the set to officially counter it.
Heatran is the number one counter resisting all Exeggutors attacks besides the very rare HP ground. Heatran can always OHKO back with either Flamethrower or Fire Blast.
If you play things smart you can send Weavile/T-tar on a psychic move and threaten with super effective attacks such as Crunch, Pursuit or Night Slash and T-tar gets rid of the ever-so-deadly Sunny Day.
Gengar also can come in on a grass attack and counter with shadow ball.
