#480 | Uxie | Pokédex Strategy Moves Database | Azelf | #482 |
This article gives you ideas of how to use Mesprit in battle in the Pokémon Black, Pokémon White and Pokemon B2W2 Games. It lists popular movesets used by competitive battlers, as well as a description on how to use each set to help you understand why the moves were chosen. These popular sets are usually the best to use in battle and so reading this guide will help you in your team building.
Gen 4: OverviewMesprit has a very good movepool, with moves such as BoltBeam, which are rare, but very effective moves. It remains inferior to Uxie in base speed but has superior offensive stats and a better physical and special movepool along with slightly higher base HP.

This set is of course as the name says team support. A great addition to any team. Being able to wall Salamence and Gyarados. Note that band Salamence outrage will most likely 2 hko mesprit. Set up stealth rock if you don’t have some poke to already set them up with. Reflect and Thunder Wave if you already have another poke to set up the rocks for you. Thunderbolt and Ice Beam is great type coverage. U-turn to predict a switch or to just get out of there. All in all a great poke for BL battles or OU even. Just be careful of pursuit.

As the name says this poke doesn’t let anything be able to set up… except for dd t-tar of course. Gyarados doesn’t have a chance to get a DD in and sweep if this thing is still around 75% hp or more. It probably can still take a hit at half. Ice Beam is a friendly reminder to Salamence who is the boss and to other dragons. Also ground and grass pokes don’t favor it that much. T-Wave those fast pokes that try to switch in like Weavile or Tyranitar, or U–Turn for some nice damage. Nothing really can freely switch in without taking some decent damage or is afraid to be paralyzed.

Simple idea. Weaken or faint all the physical threatening pokes to Mesprit and then set up with Mesprit. After a couple Calm Minds this thing is hard to take down. Having 200 speed ev’s and jolly put it at 270 speed. A respectable speed and with atleast 3 cm’s this thing will be unstoppable. T-bolt and Ice Beam are just for great coverage and Psychic for stab. Sadly it will be hard for this to set up… so many other calm minders are better at setting up than Mesprit. Blissey can just keep S-Tossing it to death or toxic. T-Tar shakes off T-bolts and Ice Beams. CM Jirachi can be a problem also. Though for the BL tier it has a better chance to sweep.

All defense. A great status absorber and nice coverage with Ice Beam and T-Bolt. Ev’s you can change around for your teams need I just posted some guide lines. When Mesprit gets low with hp just rest it off and sleep talk. The only thing I can say about this is don’t let things set up on you! Though Uxie does this much better, but one thing Uxie doesn’t have is Ice Beam.

Like the Calm Minder set but bulkier and has the access to a recovery move and be able to do something while asleep. If you want it faster or have a different EV spread, be my guest. Ice Beam is to hit all things and Psychic for stab. A good solid set in general.

Having 462 SAtk is not that bad at all. With a stab Psychic and bolt beam coverage. Hidden Power Fighting is for T-Tar and Weavile. U-turn is good for predicting a switch and Shadow Ball is to hit other Psychics and Ghosts harder. The only problem is that Mesprit’s speed only reaches 269, a little bit lower than average pokes.

Almost exact same thing as Choice Specs with a less power but more speed. Hidden Power Fighting doesn’t have a chance to 2 hko T-Tar now. Weavile faints automatically though. Its speed reaches 382, outspeeding most pokes other than max 130 Speed Pokemon.

Like an Azelf except with the lower attack and speed. At first look most people think it has only Special Attack moves but the element of surprise is on your side with this. Probably best suited for the bl environment but possible in the ou. If you dont like being stuck on a move with Choice Band use life orb which you can switch from different moves and elemental punches.

There is a great element of surprise for this set. Not many physical walls like taking the bolt beam coverage. Bronzong does wall this set though. So you could probably think of Fire Punch.

A good set to set up a sweep. Dual screen is really annoying and if healing wish to get a safe switch in and be fully healed. U-turn if you get taunted. Its also good team support also. Change healing wish with something else if you don’t want Mesprit to die.
Grass Knot for Swampert. And trick room also. Not much other stuff you can do with this pixie.
Usual CountersThe list goes on and on. Blissey can take all the special attacks except for maybe the rest/sleep talk cm set. I haven’t tested how much the physical attacker can do but its probably ranges from a 2 hko to a 3 hko with a banded Zen Headbutt. Snorlax can pursuit or Crunch it if it wants. T-Tar can taunt, Crunch, Pursuit, or DD if it wants to on this little pixie. Same goes for Weavile. Gallade with its 115 SpD can sd up and night slash it for a 2hko. Steels do well with Mesprit. Scizor and Metagross got pursuit and Scizor can X-Scissor or U-turn it as well. Calm Mind Jirachi can take its hits and hit back with a t-bolt. Bronzong has it easy also. Just be careful of pursuit and things setting up on you.
OpinionMesprit is a very effective pokemon in the UnderUsed metgame, thanks to its reasonably high stats.
