This article gives you ideas of how to use Weavile in battle in the Pokémon Black, Pokémon White and Pokemon B2W2 Games. It lists popular movesets used by competitive battlers, as well as a description on how to use each set to help you understand why the moves were chosen. These popular sets are usually the best to use in battle and so reading this guide will help you in your team building.

Despite everyone´s likeliness to use Focus Sashes only on lead Pokemon, bring a spinner, because you´re going to want this to come in much later in the game. I cannot begin to tell you how insanely deadly and potent this will be later on with walls weakened and scarfed Pokemon eliminated. If you manage to Swords Dance a switch later on in the game, such as if you can switch into a choiced Psychic Attack and leave your focus sash intact, then the game could very possibly be yours, although you probably won´t want to be switching this in a ton. Ice Punch is not mentioned, because there isn´t much you need the extra power for, and when you´re at one HP, other scarfed Pokemon and Priority moves don´t need a lot to take you down. Tyranitar and Hippowdon are irritating using this set, but it can still cause great damage if you predict the Swords Dance correctly. The moves listed give you the best coverage, and that´s what you want with Swords Dance.

This is a pretty great lead if you hate those darn lead Gengars, Azelfs, or quite a few other fairly common leads. Pursuit will kill Gengar and Azelf even if they stay in, so with those being two of DP´s most common leads, you may find yourself in a position of being up 6-5 from the very start of the game. Ice Shard is probably better for all those Scarfed Garchomps which have become Oh so common, although it will still not OHKO the surprisingly bulky Crobat, who you should generally switch out of for fear of U–Turn. Aerial Ace is mentioned almost exclusively for Infernape, which makes a somewhat common lead itself. Don´t be afraid to use this not as a lead, as it makes a great Revenge Killer as well, except against scarfed Pokemon, of course. Overall, Weavile works great with Hit and run with his scary speed and nice power, so this is almost a mandatory set to take notice of.

You might think it’s overkill putting a Choice Scarf on something as fast as Weavile, but doing so allows it to outspeed and revenge kill all notable Choice Scarf users in the game (Garchomp, Gengar, and Heracross to name a few) making this set a potentially more effective revenge killer then the previous set. Perhaps the biggest benefit from using a Choice Scarf on Weavile is being able to max out it´s attack by using an Adamant Nature as opposed to Jolly, and being able to outspeed Deoxys-e as well.
Since most Deoxys-e have just enough speed EVs to outspeed Adamant Choice Scarf Garchomp, the EVs suggested give Weavile enough speed to outrun Deoxys-e with a Choice Scarf and the HP EVs allows it to switch into attacks it resist quite well. Of course, you need to watch out for Stealth Rock damage when doing this. You could even use the EV spread 252 Atk/204 Spe/54 HP to outspeed a Deoxy-e with maximum speed, but going up against those with that much speed is very rare.
The biggest problem this set faces is having even more trouble against Weavile counters then a set using a Choice Band because of the lack of attacking power, but it still can be a fine choice for your team if you’re having trouble against certain Choice Scarf users or Deoxys-e.

Other OptionsWeavile does have some fun other options. He can Focus Punch, and the sub is nice to work with if you´re a fan of SubPunching. X-Scissor is there, but I really can´t think of a time when Night Slash and Brick Break will already cover that for you, but it will do much more against Celebi. It´s really not worth a moveslot though. Also, with Scarfed Garchomp and Deoxys around, along with all the other scarfed Pokemon in the world, Adamant Choice Scarf is a very fun idea that works out surprisingly better than you might expect. You can use Sashcounter against some tough stuff, but you´d have to wonder when you´d like that over any of his other options or any other Pokemon that does it better. Double Edge is nice as Weavile won´t mind the recoil too much with his high speed, but all the residual damage with SR and everything is a bit scary. Fake out is always nice on anything that learns it, as well.
Also, many Weaviles will choose to put their speed at 373 to beat out base 120s, which takes 216 Spe EVs. Considering all perfect IVs, this will allow you to take a flamethrower from Azelf without Life Orb. While you may ask, why would you stay in on Azelf?, take into account how fun it is to be able to switch safely into any of Azelf´s attacks [Bar HP fighting or Explosion of course] and then Pursuit to kill no matter what. The reason I have max speed and attack listed is so that you can at least tie most Weaviles you will see on WiFi to make it a 50/50 chance for brick break to OHKO.
Usual CountersMetagross and Forretress are probably the two best Weavile counters around. Metagross can easily switch in to Weavile, even being neutral to Night Slash, and STAB CB Bullet Punch is not Weavile´s best friend. Forretress is perfectly okay with any Brick breaks you throw at it, and will destroy you with Gyro Ball.
Gyarados can also come in fairly easily with Intimidate, and most carry Stone Edge nowadays, and after one DD, Gyarados will outspeed anyway.
Swampert can also come in very easily and roar you away to stack up more residual damage if SR is down, or just attack you.
Scarfed Heracross can also switch in pretty safely and scare Weavile away or kill. Hitmontop and a few other common fighting types can come in pretty safely and Mach Punch Weavile away.
