Choice Scarf

Rotom-w @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Trick
- Shadow Ball
- Hydro Pump

Rotom-W is commonly associated with the item Choice Scarf, and surely for a good reason. Rotom-W has lots of things that other revenge killers would kill for, such as an arsenal of moves with perfect coverage, Trick and brilliant typing. It can beat lots of commonly used sweepers before they can even react, plus it can block Rapid Spin - it is a primary choice for a bulky offense revenge killer. If that was not enough, Rotom-W is getting use on other styles, ranging from semi-stall to heavy offense. This moveset has its flaws, though. The biggest threat to this entire moveset is definitely a bulky Pursuiter, mainly Tyranitar or Snorlax. Thus, it is reccomended that you don't mindlessly switch in into Pokemon such as Scizor locked into Bullet Punch - that is the perfect time for Tyranitar to switch in and take Rotom-W out. Also, you should watch out for Pokemon that have Substitute. Lots of them can switch into a resisted move and set up Substitute with ease, for instance Breloom, Magnezone and sometimes Latias.

This moveset isn't really "set in stone". Actually, the only move that's absolutely crucial here is Thunderbolt. You can freely edit the moveset, there are lots of options. Hidden Powers, such as Ice and Fighting and Will-o-Wisp are some of them. If you want a little bulkier Rotom, you can always try 252HP / 216Spd / 40SAtk (Timid), even though the loss in power is noticable.

Sub + WoW
Rotom-w @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Spd / 16 SAtk / 52 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Will-o-wisp
- Pain Split / Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt

With the advent of Pain Split, many sets revolving around the move were made. This moveset is a reincarnation of the older version of this exact moveset, using Pain Split over Shadow Ball. However, Shadow Ball is still completely viable. The promise of this moveset is simple - beating the physical-based sweepers with the use of Pain Split, Will-o-Wisp and Substitute. It is for sure that Rotom-W will also lure out many of it's counters and stop them from Pursuiting it. Tyranitar and Snorlax are both crippled by Will-o-Wisp, and Rotom-W can stall both of them out when Stealth Rock is up and you use Thunderbolt to finish them off. Blissey won't be so happy, too. Pain Split will drain it off a precious amount of health and completely heal Rotom-W most of the time! Even Heatran isn't in such a safe position now, as Stealth Rock with one layer of Spikes assure the 2HKO on it with Thunderbolt. There still are Pokemon that beat this moveset with ease, though - the most dangerous being special attackers that resist Thunderbolt. Latias, Rotom-A and Jolteon both dont have problems switching into this moveset. Still, this Rotom is quite possibly the best choice for semi-stall teams.

252 HP and 52SDef EVs assure that Rotom-W survives a LO Starmie Hydro Pump, and gives enough bulk for Substitute to withstand weaker special attacks such as Swampert's Ice Beam. 188 Spd EVs are just enough to outspeed Adamant Lucario. Shadow Ball is an option over Pain Split if you want to use a more offensive version of this set, but if you choose so, use 252HP / 68SAtk / 188Spd (Timid), to get a KO on opposing Scarf Rotom (if you are in a Substitute), and for Thunderbolt to always 2HKO Vaporeon.

Choice Specs
Rotom-W @ Choice Specs
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest / Timid nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
- Shadow Ball

This is the strongest Rotom moveset. With the right prediction, it can destroy some of the bulkiest Pokemon, such as Tyranitar, Swampert, Metagross and Heatran. This moveset is also very easy to use - just switch in to Pokemon like Skarmory or Metagross, and use Hydro Pump to OHKO a Tyranitar coming in to Pursuit you. Not only that, but Hydro Pump (and also Thunderbolt) always 2HKO Scizor! Only use Shadow Ball against Pokemon that resist Thunderbolt and when Hydro Pump is too risky to finish them off. Or when they resist both moves off course (Latias). Trick is an irreplacable option on this moveset, crippling Blissey and Curse Snorlax. The choice of natures is the good old power vs. speed argument, so if you need to outspeed Adamant Lucario, use Timid, if you want more power, Modest.
