Ninetails
Type: Fire
Abilities:
Flash Fire: Activates when user is hit by a damaging Fire type move (including Fire-type Hidden Power). Once activated, users Fire-type moves deal 1.5 times damage. While this ability is in effect, this Pokemon is immune to damage from Fire-type attacks and Fire-type Hidden Power (accuracy and effect from these moves are ignored). For Fire-type Pokemon with this ability, Will-O-Wisp activates this ability without having an effect. If a non-Fire-type Pokemon has this ability, Will-O-Wisp will activate this ability and will have an effect.
Drought (Dream World/ Released): The weather changes to Clear Skies when this Pokemon enters the battle.
Base Stats:
HP: 73
Attack: 76
Defense: 75
Special Attack: 81
Special Defense: 100
Speed: 100
Overview
Ninetails itself is a mediocre Pokemon. With weaknesses to Stealth Rocks and the ever-popular Edge/Quake combo, Ninetails didn't have much going for it in Gen IV, thus casting it to the depths of NU. In Gen V, Ninetails has become one of the Pokemon that completely defines the metagame thanks to its Dream World ability, Drought, an ability once only possessed by Groudon. With everlasting sun introduced into the OU metagame, Ninetails has become a staple on every Sun-Team. Ninetails has a bit of issues though when comparing to its other Auto-Weather brethren. Ninetails is weak to Water and Rock, both of which are commonly carried by other Auto-Weather users, Politoed and Tyranitar respectively. This means that Ninetails has trouble switching into either of these Pokemon to change the weather, as it will receive severe or Fatal damage from both of these Pokemon. Despite this, Ninetails is still one of the faces of this metagame.

Set Comments
This set is Ninetails' most popular set, and for good reason. With its typing, Ninetails is weak to all other Auto-Weather Pokemon minus Abomasnow. This set is designed to cripple other Auto-Weather Pokemon while still maintaining a defensive threat. Flamethrower is Ninetails main offensive move, since dual STAB Flamethrower will take a nice chunk out of anything neutral to it. Substitute is perfect for an Auto-Weather Pokemon whose STAB is resisted by the two most common Auto-Weather Pokemon, Tyranitar and Politoed. Substitute allows Ninetails to scout what counter the opponent brings in to it and cripple that counter with a status move. The third move slot is between Will-O-Wisp and Toxic. Will-O-Wisp is more effective against Sandstorm teams with the ever threatening presence of Tyranitar, Excadrill (who would probably not switch into Ninetails), and Terrakion, all of which tend to carry physical attack options. Toxic is more suited against Rain and Stall teams, and Ninetails doesn't have to worry about Steels thanks to STAB Flamethrower. The last move slot is mainly a toss up. Hidden Power [Fighting] is the preferred option in order to nail Tyranitar, who is one of the most popular Pokemon around. Protect can be used for scouting and to gain some leftovers recovery. Hypnosis is useful to cripple an opposing Pokemon with sleep, but 60% accuracy is very risky.

Other Options
Hex- Can be used along side Will-O-Wisp or Toxic, but it offers Ninetails no additional coverage outside of hitting Chandelure if Ninetails doesn't carry Hidden Power [Ground]
Psyshock- A move that looks a lot better than it actually is. Psyshock doesn't really help Ninetails with anything, minus hitting Chansey/Blissey.
Solarbeam- More powerful than Energy Ball, but extremely risky to use, due to the abundance of Auto-Weather Pokemon.
Flame Charge- Can be used on an offensive set to gain a speed boost.
Pain Split- Ninetail's only recovery move outside of Rest. However, it is illegal with Drought, so there is really no point in using it.
