A visual novel is an interactive story that you can read on the computer. It's sort of like a choose your own adventure story with voice acting, special effects, and minigames. I discovered these a few years ago, and fell in love with them. Have you read any Visual novels, and if so, which ones?

Personally, in order, I've read CROSS † CHANNEL, Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, Kagetsu Tohya, and 999. I'm currently reading Clannad, Little Busters and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. I have a few more on my reading list, like EVER-17 and Majikoi.

Now, what Visual Novels, if any have you read? Or have you heard of any?

Neither have I, but I plan to!

Just for record, I'm a total newbie when it comes to visual novels. I've only completed Cross Channel and Little Busters!, but I can say those were the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a while.
As for others? Half the prologue of Tsukihime and Fate Stay/Night pretty much... xD

I've read Tsukihime but didn't get far into it. I've also read Fate Stay Night which I'm trying to further myself into reading. It's amazing I love it

I haven't read any yet. A lot of friends seem to be getting obsessed with them, though...

^ Just going to say, visual novels and manga are a complete different thing. Visual novels are a computer type game that comes fully complete with music, voice acting and images which are also known as game cgs. You get different choices and depending on you're choice, it can alter your story. It can get sort of interesting if you're into that type of stuff.

Oh, I didn't realise. Now I feel stupid. I'll just go and edit that post.

I've read 999 on the DS. Not sure if that counts, but it's the closest thing to a visual novel that I've actually had time to read.

I forgot 999.. And it was so good, too! Oh my gosh.. I loved it to death. I was personally scarred when I got the submarine ending first, but once I got through that.. it was pretty amazing. xD

I couldn't find a retail version for 999 and missed out on that. :/
Shame since I've read it's received great critical acclaim.

I've read all of Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night (well...okay I missed bad ends and extra choices, but I've read all routes).
I'm in the middle of reading G-Senjou no Maou, which I am enjoying IMMENSELY as of right now.
I'm also trying to finish up Little Busters!.

Visual novels I have looked at, but probably won't finish are plentiful, so I'll just list the titles I remember:

999
11Eyes
Kagetsu Tohya
Umineko
Higurashi
Fate/Hollow Ataraxia

Many anime shows and manga series often originate from Visual Novels. 11eyes appears to be an example of that.

As of now, I'm currently reading Fate/Stay Night. I might ask Kael for a few other recommendations when I'm done.

I'm in the process of reading most of these still though. Having interests sucks man.
