View Full Version : Anyone play or heard of Minecraft?

DarkGlaceon

So... As the title of this thread says, I am wondering, are there any Minecraft players here on the SS Forums? I am a frequent player and am wondering if anyone else plays.

I really enjoy it. The way Minecraft brings out creativity due to its sandbox nature is my favorite part of the game. Anyone else think the same?

I received an account from my friend back during Alpha. It's just awesome. Nothing else to describe it as.

Edit: I only waste half my day playing it (when Ollie puts his server up, since my computer has a crashing problem and loves to corrupt/delete worlds).

Overhyped in my opinion. Was very fun back in Alpha, but after the core principal and a few new worlds, it's only a game for people who want to build houses everywhere.

I also play minecraft. I haven't fallen into the trap of wasting away my life, but I play it a lot. I am trying to find a multiplayer server I like abd isn't too laggy. I think I'll wait until 1.3 although.

I don't know anyone who hasn't heard of Minecraft. I've never played it and I wanna play it so badly.

Both, actually. I used to be obsessed with building towers and castles, but I didn't put in enough time to finish the one I was making. Now I don't play it at all.

I enjoy minecraft.. I haven't played it in a while though. I would only play creative mode, because I wanted to make things. xD

But I was in the process of building a grand city, with an arch and palace and everything when I stopped. I really need to get back to that sometime..

Eoghan and all constantly played it, so a few months ago (either 2 or 4, can't remember which break I got the game around), I gave in and bought it so that I wouldn't be left out anymore. I really enjoy it, though I'm not a very good builder and am far from being good at Redstone. However, caving is fun, and there are a lot of projects I'd like to work on in the game, even if they'll turn out looking horrible.

(Game needs name changes, though. Seriously.
EDIT: And by that I mean player name changes. I hate mine.)

Minecraft is really addicting an I find the in-game world to be really impressive, even with the weird square graphics, but its a shame the game's really glitchy and sometimes you can't tell where you're going :/

That could be either a chunk loading problem, or your graphics card. The chunk loading problem is normally identified when there is a giant square hole in the map leading into oblivion. That can be fixed by reconnecting to whatever server you're on as those chunk errors never happen in Single Player.

As for the "square" graphics, the game isn't meant to look pretty. Plus the limitations with using Java as the coding language for the game heavily affected that.

Oh, definitely. I don't know of a single person who hasn't heard of Minecraft, I'd be shocked to hear of said person. I usually play in Survival Mode, because I like challenges, but I sometimes play in Creative Mode so that way I can build whatever I want.

I play Minecraft. I haven't touched it in a while, though. It's pretty swell. I can't really be bothered with Survival, as there honestly isn't that much to do after diamond armour, so I prefer to build things in Creative.

If you're bored with the vanilla Minecraft then you should really check out the Minecraftforum's mod section. (http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/51-minecraft-mods/) There is really good stuff found there. It's not illegal at the slightest as the forum is supported by Notch(The Creator of Minecraft if you didn't already know) himself.

Of course, who hasn't heard of it? And yes, I play it on survival mostly. You get a great sense of satisfaction after having completed a structure made out of a rare substance.

Minecraft works because it's indie.
If it was made by EA it would have been the worst game ever made, fullstop.

Survival adds another element to the game, forcing you to actually find materials as opposed to pulling it off of an inventory screen. Even after full Diamond, you still have to go caving, etc. However, I understand what you mean about vanilla getting stale, so I'd recommend playing some maps (adventure if you're interested in story, etc. or something like CTM if you want to up the difficulty and focus on battles and tough dungeons.)

I enjoy the building aspect of Minecraft to an extent, but even if you enjoy building a lot, (in my opinion) you suddenly realize the other mechanics aren't so swell and there isn't much to do.

I love all the aspects of minecraft, I like building in creative as well as creating machines in survival (automated farms and such), as well as using mods like WorldEdit and VoxelSniper to make adventure maps. Theres plenty to do if you keep yourself busy.

I wish I had your creativity. Minecraft gets really boring for me because I don't feel like making giant sculptures, I'd rather do a challenge map or something. That's why I prefer Terraria since it has the whole boss battle thing. Reminds me that I never actually finished the main game, haha. I only got to Hellstone on my last file instead of getting to Hallow.

If that's the case, then you really need to download this map: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/873557-survadv-%E2%98%A0%E2%98%A0-quad-mountain-survival-%E2%98%A0%E2%98%A0/
It's an adventure/survival map with a billion more added survival elements including many more monsters, many more things to craft, more weather elements, and etc. Also, the map design is really good, so yeah try this out if you prefer adventure over building.

What I plan on doing is recreating worlds from certain games I've already played in strange, blocky graphics.

I heard of Minecraft. It is a really interesting game that express your imaginations into Minecraft world. It is dang popular, and I wish I had it in PC but my parents said "No" because I have to buy it from online (Eh, in the past. My parents had bad experience in online shopping so our family never gonna buy from online ever again. DX). As for now, I have to watch it in Youtube apparently.

I love the game.... But I'm much for of an.... explorer than a builder.

Which is why the game can quickly lose its charm for me.

Often for me it just becomes.... Get pickaxe>Get iron>Get diamond>Go to the Nether>Get Glowstone>Game is basically completed.

I also dislike how Fortresses, Strongholds, and NPC villages can be impossible to find unless you're lucky. But despite this, I've spent hundreds of hours playing the game and think it's a great experience. >.<
