Comic Shenanigans!

[Xerodragon12]

A weekly webcomic by yours truly, based (loosely) off of what goes on in the chatbox and my real life.
Comics 1 through 9 (Eyan's age through Moving On) is what I consider as "Season One" of Chatbox Shenanigans, while Comics 10 through 20 (Introducing Lyra through A:TLA parody) is considered Season Two.
Comics 21 through 32 is the set originally called "College Shenanigans" which dealt near exclusively with my real life, with some embellishment for no other reason than it's funny. Every comic after that will take place in the combined "Comic Shenanigans" Universe, where the comic could take place either on the internet (a la Chatbox Shenanigans), real life (a la College Shenanigans), or some crazy interaction with fictional characters.

Really don't know what I was thinking when I drew this one. This was to commemorate the opening of the forums to the general public, and someone misspelled "noobs" as "noofs", and then I guess I was thinking of doing a Game of Thrones reference that was horribly executed. I don't know.

For everyone who's wondering what's going on here, when Eyan posted the first part to his MK7 Walkthrough advertising this place we were in the chat when suddenly the site turned laggy because of all the visitors. We were all referencing all kinds of over-dramatic stuff when somebody, I don't remember who, made the typo "The NOOFS are coming". It was pretty hilarious :D.

I guess I'll do a description here too, since no one seems to go back to the first one. Anyways, guess who's in the Closet of Unspeakable Horrors! I'll give you a hint: It's not the Pyro. This came about when someone learned that Pokemon Trainer Lyra found out about the forums (I don't really understand why some people are scared of her), so I played around with the situation, claiming that telling Lyra about the forums were the essential equivalent for letting her out of the Closet of Unspeakable Horrors. Hence the Joke. That, and Meet the Pyro came out at about the same time.

I'm at a lack of ideas for CS, due to the lack of hilarious things that occur, or the lack of G/PG-rated jokes that go on in Skype.

Starting this week, I'm starting this little "arc" so to speak, called Convention Shenanigans, entailing the hilarious stuff, as well as the do's and don'ts of conventions. This little snippet was from Animenext 2012. I went as a group, with two friends who cosplayed (albeit badly) as Mario and Luigi. Of course, shortly of getting my pass, I ditched them to explore the convention. Of course, it's also necessary to note that my two friends are also idiots and socially awkward, as well as all talk and full of hot air. Hence why I ditched them in the first place.

Heyo! New layout? Only two panels today, kids. To busy watching the Olympics. Speaking of which, this comic. Also, in this comic, Nick makes his debut, as Emiya Kiritsugu. I'm to lazy to change the text color for Nick, and since I don't know what he looks like irl, his appearances from this point on will simply be Kiritsugu, in different clothing. Also, we see the debut as Inu Miko Kyomu in her traditional Miko outfit. Not to mention the entire Earth makes a debut in this comic. It's just chock full of debuts!

This comic is simply me making fun of the fact that the first day of Otakon and the first day of the Olympics coincided.

This was originally supposed to document the funny stuff that occurs in the chatbox, but since no one's doing anything funny, I have to improvise, and come up with other ideas to fill the space. The first few comics (up till when I started documenting Convention stuff) did technically occur in the chatbox, so, there's that. I'm also to lazy to change the name of the thread. Maybe next season. if there is one.

So with Superskarmory, MF and I going to college, updates are sure to slow down to the point where you think we're dead. Uh...So as the comics says, this will be the last one for a while, since neI xt Sunday, I'm getting ready to leave for college, and after that, I have course work to take care of. I'm planning to reboot this next summer, as like a Season 2, but in order for me to do so, I'm going to need inspiration, more specifically, inspiration from the Chatbox. So if you see anything funny (that isn't Roleplay, mind you), please, PM me the details, like Who said what, in which order, and that sort of stuff. I just want to say this, for those who have commented on CS, THANK YOU for the rep and comments, they really do make my day, seeing that you guys appreciate my art. For those of you who may be reading this months into the future, I suggest asking chatbox veterans about Chatbox Shenanigans to get the whole story behind it. As Superskarmory says, Thank You, and Good Night.

EDIT: Just as a clarification, depending on my schedule, I may or may not randomly log on to chat with some of you guys, answer questions, etc. I just won't be able to work on the comic during the school year.

This one came about when Kyo was watching Shingeki no Kyojin while on the chatbox, and when she saw this Titan with (in her terms) "anime eyes", she completely freaked out, and the above happened (although I did kinda change the text to something more general, since I know most of you don't watch SnK (or anime, for that matter)).

In all seriousness, I'm actually going to be at AnimeNext all day tomorrow (Maybe it's because I'm hiding from Kyo)

It's been a great year for the SuperSkarmory Community. The Forums started, I started Chatbox Shenanigans, Eyan started streaming League, etc. Of course we've had our casualties, with some staff resigning, while others took their place, and we've had some great members come and go. All in all, though, I'm excited to see this forum grow and expand as it has over the past year, and I'm sure others share the same sentiment. If other staff members want to add on to this post, it'd be nice.~XeroD

Nah, but seriously, it's true. Since the eggs aren't fertilized, the hen has to discharge the eggs, much like how teenage girls and pre-menopause women have to clear their uteruses once a month. Also, I dun goofed. I screwed up Kyo's left eye in the fourth panel. Whoops.

After the events of this comic, a couple hours pass without incident, Garth logs on and disables all the plugins, including the chatbox, before reenabling the chatbox. It's kind of anticlimactic for the last comic of the "Hacked" arc, but I at least wanted to get this comic out, because I thought it was especially funny...except I kinda feel that the joke, as written, wasn't well executed. Screw it. I just wanted to finish this arc because, to be honest, I'm getting bored of it. I have plenty of other gags and one-offs that I want to do, especially because I have four more weeks left of Summer Break before I return to school.

Speaking of which: Should I continue Chatbox Shenanigans through the school year, or do you want me to take a break and return with a Season 3 of CS like I did last year? Continuing Chatbox Shenanigans through the school year means more updates when I can get to a scanner, but could potentially be rough and unpolished, while taking a break and returning with a Season 3 means, well, no updates after August 24th or 25th up until May or June of 2014.

Okay, technically GD only made three accounts, and the record for most alt accounts made per IP address probably goes to some guy who proceeded to get IP banned for other reasons somewhat relating to making alt accounts, but GD was more recent and actually masqueraded as his nonexistent younger brother for a good two weeks before he revealed himself (pretty stupid move, actually, considering most of us mods fell for the younger brother ruse) and got both accounts banned. Anyways, I'll finish up this scenario next week, and then two more comics before school starts. The general consensus is for me to continue doing Chatbox Shenanigans through the school year, so I'll see how that works out.

Yeah, that happened...
Here's why I chose who to represent which element:

For Water(水), it was myself, for a few reasons: First off, in Chinese culture, Dragons are water deities, not fire deities. Second, even though I study Chinese Martial Art, I prefer Tai Chi Quan (the basis for Waterbending), so there's that.
For Earth(土), I chose Mega, mainly because his color scheme in CS is already green and yellow.
For Fire(火), I chose Marissa, since she's been shown shooting lightning (a skill most firebenders know)
For Air(氣), I was originally going to do Lyra, since she's an airhead, but I decided to keep it just staff, so I chose Eyan, because I haven't drawn him since CS001 and because Skarmory is a Flying type (and Airbenders can "fly"). He's also blind because I want to stick with that "Not drawing his eyes" schtick. (The character for Wind is 風, while 氣 is actually qi, the same qi in martial arts. However, in A:TLA, they use 氣 to denote air)
I chose LP to be Fire Lord because of a conversation about what he would be called if he was female, which ended with Fire Lord Penguin (Fire Lord is a gender neutral title)

Well, as stated in my Chatbox Shenanigans thread, I'm putting ChS on hiatus, but I'm not going to stop making comics for you guys. Very funny and interesting things happen at college, and sometimes they're worth sharing with other people, so here's the first installment of College Shenanigans.

Anyways, sometimes, the background serves as a plot point, because unlike Chatbox Shenanigans, which takes place in an arbitrary location, the Internet, College Shenanigans take place in an actual location, my university. This comic in particular serves as a transition from Chatbox Shenanigans to College Shenanigans, where I depart from an airport wearing my jacket, and slowly transition to a new cast (and new look). Unlike Chatbox Shenanigans, the characters will be changing clothes quite often (as per real life).

To be honest, nothing is better than having gyros with your friends, but your lounge is closed so you're forced to use a microwave box as a temporary table. Anyways, the guy in the second panel was my roommate from last year. Originally he, Chase, and I were supposed to room together this year, but he transferred out for some reason. Also, I don't really know what goes on at frat parties, so the third panel is purely speculative.

(Also, in the first panel, that's actually part of my homework. I couldn't think of anything to put in that thought bubble, so I just did the first two problems of the assignment there.)

It's okay if I come back from class, and no one's around, because it makes sense. But when I go to the bathroom, and come back, and everyone's gone, then it gets worrying. I don't know what's more surprising, the fact that they ate an entire meal while I was in the bathroom, or the fact that this happens often.

For a bit of clarification, our residence hall has both a dining hall and an a la carte mini-shop that has burgers and chips and drinks and stuff. They went to the a la carte mini-shop (from this point forward referred to as CHOMPS), not the dining hall. I drew them at the dining hall because it's funnier (or at least it was in my head)

I was dozing off in Quantum Lecture (since I had just woken up), when I heard the mention of Psy. At first I was confused, but then I realized the professor was referring to the wave function of a particle with definite momentum, especially in Schroedinger's equation, which is denoted with the Greek Letter Psi. Anyways, I, in my sleep-deprived state, came up with the concept of having Psi represent Psy in a Gangnam Style parody. People still make those, right?

The lasers behind Psi Psy are actually supposed to be diffraction patterns of light going through one slit, two slits, and a diffraction grating.

Yes, I'm well aware I misspelled "Schrodinger". I honestly thought it was spelled with an 'E' when I was drawing this... Oh, well.

The infamous Schrodinger's Cat experiment was purely hypothetical, being something we in the science field call a "gedanken", or thought experiment, as pointed out in the first panel. Pretty much, Schrodinger asked "Let's put a cat in a box with a radioactive substance and a flask of HCN (Hydrogen Cyanide). The radioactive substance may or may not decay within the hour. If the radioactive substance decays, it will trigger a Geiger counter, which will drop a small hammer, breaking the flask. Let's also say that the box is in an isolated, sound-proof room. By the end of the hour, without opening or picking up the box, do you know if the cat is dead or alive?" The superposition of two realities, one where the cat is dead, and one where the cat is alive, is a phenomenon known as a "quantum superposition". However, the picture is NOT a quantum superposition, simply because we can see the cat(girl).

This picture also came up during quantum lecture in my sleep-deprived state. Hiroshi's last lines were originally going to be "Don't you have a test to study for?", which was true, as I drew this the day before my differential equations midterm.

This came up in a discussion between me, Hiroshi, and his girlfriend about Pokemon X and Y and the Mega evolution, and since X and Y comes out today, I thought it'd be fitting to draw this for this week.

Anyways, I was showing them the Kanto Starter Mega Evolution trailers, when I pointed out that the trigger pose looks something out of a tokusatsu, like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai (or Power Rangers), so this joke kind of came up.

So to introduce a few new characters-
Austin, the guy in the grey hoodie. He's a Material Science (MatSci) major, and in a few of my classes.
Yin, the girl in the orange. She's a Computer Engineering major who obsesses over cute things, like squirrels
Alice, the girl who suggested to put my hair in pigtails. She's also a Computer Engineering major. She acts like one of those ridiculously cute anime characters, you know, the ones who squee over every little thing. She has that squeaky high-pitched voice, and she's got that "double-v" and the head tilt down pat.

We all met each other through the university's Wushu club, with Austin being in charge of teaching staff forms, while Yin, Alice, and I are put in the "beginner" group, for the sheer sake of having people in the beginner group. This conversation actually occurred on Thursday, after practice, when we were eating. Yin did point out that my hair was getting kind of long (for guy standards), and the conversation pretty much went down as shown (except Austin didn't trip)

This means that both comics would take place in the same universe, and I can also interact with forum users and staff, like Mega and Kyo, while also interacting with my college friends. Speaking of sharing universes, if I do end up merging the two comic series, would you also like for this universe to take place in some made-up fantasy universe where we (as a collective group) can also interact with characters from other universes (like in my post-Halloween "special")?

As clarification, this "fantasy-universe" thing is more of just a composite universe where we can interact with fictional characters from different stories and worlds. For example, I could probably do a gag with Mario or Pokemon in one comic, and then a few comics later, do a comic with a gag involving the Doctor, or something like that. I don't plan on this composite world to become the main focus of the comic (The main focus, as always, would be the interaction between me and either my friends or you guys), but more of a medium where if we so wanted to, we could talk with our favorite characters, or have a laugh at their expense.
