Can we have it like it was on the old forum, so that it shows the reasons people gave you reputation/took away reputation? I always liked reading them :3

It's like that, but only staff can see it. Some of them are quite enjoyable. ;) And we want the reputation system to be anonymous to normal users due to the fact that some people can get butt hurt easily and then they'd whole grudges and what not. It's basically a safe way to avoid politics by keeping it hidden, I hope you understand. (: (slugma)

Then why is it required to leave a comment? It probably just results in the staff seeing a lot of full stops or other single characters. :/

back when these forums first started it wasn't required, I guess someone changed it along the way *shrugs*

Yeah, it changed about the same time being able to see comments was disabled. I don't understand it. :/

You don't need to reveal the usernames though. Maybe only show usernames for giving positive reputation? It would encourage people to give reputation to people that gave it to them, and thus improving the system even more.

It didn't show usernames before, just comments.

Remember that comment you got for negative reputation once? lmao

If showing people's usernames would encourage giving rep, it would be the same idea behind sub4sub on youtube. You get subscribers by subbing back but you really didn't earn it. To be honest I am against this whole reputation system and I want it to be completely hidden, because the more of it that becomes public, the more unfair earning reputation becomes, and I think that the system is really flawed on its own, but we have to live with it.

that sounds cool... I wish it was that way here but what the people say up there is true

He's totally right. It could be cool, but hiding who gave or removed rep keeps things more fair and honest. Reputation is something to be earned, not handed out. That was pretty philosophical, but true. xD
