Best to evolve Growlithe into Arcanine after lvl. 34, but before lvl. 39. If you do that Arcanine will have two great moves, Extreme Speed and Flamethrower.

Grass/Poison type
Kanto grass-type starter, along with Charmander and Squirtle (Pikachu notwithstanding)
The only dual-typed starter so far
Overgrow is its main ability, but I can't remember the Hidden ability
Evolves into Ivysaur and then Venusaur
Appears in the Johto Pokedex as well as the Kanto one
Grr I can't remember anything else.
