View Full Version : Favourite Game Reviewers?

Before deciding to buy that epic looking new game that came out recently(or an older title you'd like to know if it's worth playing), you might be one of those people to check out a review of the game first, right? Whether it's a big game reviewing site like IGN or Gamespot or a reviewer on Youtube or any other video uploading site, who do you trust the most or entertains you the most?

I tend to watch a lot of Ben Croshaw "Yahtzee" otherwise knows as "Zero Punctuation". He never holds back his thoughts on a game and his extreme critical style a long with rapid fire speech is hilarious on its own. He also has an amazing sense of humour when insulting something and while there are a lot of things I disagree with from what he says, he's still hilarious and tends to make very valid points when something bothers him(when it's clear what he's saying). I really like his style of using drawings to show what he's saying, all being very humorous.

Some of his reviews(NSFW):
Super Mario 3D Land and Rayman Origins (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mq97KuraFE)
Pokemon Black/White (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdt8ZD1N-wk)
Super Smash Bros Brawl (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk0MGPjWbtE)

I'm also a really big fan of John Ortiz, AKA Somecallmejohnny. His reviews have an extreme amount of effort, care and love put into them and I really like his taste in games. Occasionally his uploading tends to be a bit sloppy, but he makes up for this by having a "Month of xxx" where he uploads reviews of a game series in one month. He's also an extremely nice guy, has a great nice sense of humour, has really great animation skills and he's just a bro who you would love to play vidya with. Speaking of which he also has a Lets Play where he plays video games with his younger brother and best friend. He's also a part of Brain Scratch Comms.

Some of his reviews:
Super Mario World (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT684UptHkM&feature=plcp)
Saw: The Video Game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7Fj0hJOQR4&feature=plcp)
Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmRDg0MT_B4&feature=plcp)

That's all I really feel like typing atm, I'll more than most likely update this when I'm not feeling lazy.

I agree on Somecallmejohnny, he's a great reviewer. I also love Jontron (because JonTron) PBG (because he's a cool guy who doesn't take himself too seriously and usually picks really interesting, obscure games) and Egoraptor (I didn't like him very much when I first watched one of his videos, but he really grew on me. He's funny and he is great at explaining his vision on what games should be). The latter three don't just do reviews, but the ones they do are really interesting.

The only reviewer I regularely watch is AntDude92 (formerly SonikDude). He only rarely reviews new games, but I like how and which aspects of the games he describes and also the speed and length of his reviews.

I've been watching Zero Punctuation for a while now. I just love the way he points out the flaws in his reviews, which is pretty much his idgaf attitude. I've also started watching some of Jon Tron's stuff. His behavior on bad games is just wild, and I like it.

I don't care who, I just go on IGN or Gamespot and search for reviews and stuff.

I love Classic Game Room. Mostly just the main channel though. They main guy is pretty funny and real. He never really gives the game a rating or talks about it's problems, just points out the good things in the game.

The ESRB. Really the only one I know(and really care about). ONLINE ACTION FTW!
