View Full Version : (Ubers) A mediocre team that somehow got ridiculously high on the ladder (Peaked at #77)

Once again, I make a RMT to confirm the Ubers ladder is made of fail, especially the lower end of it. At first glance this team might seem mediocre, and in actuality, it is. It's just the fact that people don't seem to remember many old sets from Gen 5 are still viable.

I checked out Ghostceus's Gen 5 analysis and saw the lead set. I've never tried that one before, so I decided to make an alt, electiviresucks31, and with it a new team that abuses lead Ghostceus.

The team at a glance

A closer look

Failceus-Dark (Arceus-Ghost) @ Spooky Plate
Trait: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Stealth Rock
- Judgment
- Flamethrower
- Magic Coat

This Ghost Arceus is capable to turn the tables on many leads, such as Darkrai, Deoxys-A, Forretress or even Mega Gengar. Since the team absolutely requires Stealth Rock (Ho-oh being the main reason), this thing can accomplish that (if the opponent has a Pokemon with Defog, however, I will switch out and keep it for later), and Flamethrower can punish Scizor, Skarmory and Ferrothorn.

Miley Cyrus (Ferrothorn) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 192 SpD
Sassy Nature

- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Protect

Your standard Ferrothorn here, I'm considering getting rid of Protect and use Power Whip instead, so that Ferrothorn can actually defeat Kyogre and become a check to 3 S Rank threats (Mega Gengar, Kyogre and Xerneas).

Xerneas? Screw it! (Scizor) (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature

- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Knock Off

Mainly for Xerneas if it managed to set up a Geomancy. It can also mess up many walls, especially those relying on Eviolite, with Knock Off. Lugia and Ho-Oh (the latter on the switch) really hate losing their precious Leftovers, Arceus-Ghost takes a solid hit, while Chansey is completely neutralized.

bah (Xerneas) @ Life Orb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Naive Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spd
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
- Rock Slide
- Aromatherapy

I strongly disagree with people who say GeoXern is the best set for Xerneas, because in my opinion it's not. GeoXern only gets one chance to sweep, which is very annoying. This Xerneas is a wallbreaker and a cleric all in one, and also serves as a lure for Ho-Oh expecting a GeoXern only to lose to a well-timed Rock Slide.

Comma (Mewtwo) @ Mewtwonite Y
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Psystrike
- Aura Sphere
- Fire Blast
- Taunt

When it Mega Evolves, Mewtwo becomes a speedy attacker that can also shut down many walls, especially Lugia, with a simple Taunt. I don't need to explain the use of Psystrike and Aura Sphere, really. Fire Blast can melt Ferrothorn and Skarmory, OHKOing them even in the rain with a bit of prior damage.

Not Groudon (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 244 Spd / 252 Atk / 12 HP
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Superpower

Finally, we come upon Landorus-T. Probably the star of the team, as many people tend to forget Scarf Lando-T exists. I'm considering using a Jolly nature over an Adamant one to deal heavy damage to Kyogre and maybe even survive a Water Spout after that. Landorus-T, with Intimidate, can also serve as a check to Extreme Killer Arceus, with Superpower dealing heavy damage, about 65-70%.

Oh and this.

Threat List

Blue - not a big problem
Light Green - can be a bit annoying under specific circumstances
Yellow - can be threatening under specific circumstances
Orange - can be threatening at any moment
Red - can be very threatening at any moment

Mega Gengar: It can trap and KO one member of my team with the correct move (Scizor and Ferrothorn with HP Fire, Xerneas with Sludge Wave or Landorus-T with Hidden Power Ice), but Mega Gengar can't run all those moves at once and thus isn't all that threatening. Just about every member of my team has the potential to take it out. Mega Mewtwo Y even outspeeds it if both Pokemon mega evolve at once or if both are already mega evolved.

Kyogre: My first action is to go to Ferrothorn and see how much Water Spout does. If it does around 35-40%, that means it's a Scarf Kyogre, so I keep Ferrothorn in and annoy my opponent with Leech Seed and Gyro Ball. Specs variants are much more problematic, however, because Ferrothorn is cleanly 2HKOed by Specs Water Spout even with Stealth Rock on Kyogre's side. If it's a defensive variant, Ghost Arceus can reflect its Toxic and then Xerneas can be brought in to get rid of the fat sea whale with repeated Moonblasts.
