Okay so we all know about the older leads (Azelf, Uxie, Aerodactly, Skarmory etc). But how about the new and abused ones that gen 5 brought us. So far some of the best ones I've personally used are:

Mienshao
Jolly @ Life Orb
Regenerator

-Fake Out
-Hi Jump Kick
-Taunt
-U-Turn

Gigalith
Impish @ Custop Berry
Sturdy

-Stealth Rock
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-Explosion

Zoroark (I love using this as a lead its so funny)
Timid @ Life Orb
Illusion

-Night Haze
-Flamethrower
-Focus Blast
-HP psychic 70

Espeon
Modest @ Choice Scarf
Magic Bounce

-Psychic
-Shadow Ball
-Grass Knot
-HP Fire 70

Some others that Ive seen (a little to often) are the obvious Drizzlefrog and Sunnytails, and some of the other ones that got upgrades from gen 4 are sturdy Forretress and Skarmory. Also Ferroloseed seems to be popular aswell.

The goal here is to discuss any new leads, different possible movesets for ones already mentioned etc. Please dont post saying this like "so-and-so sucks" or "this is better because" keep it constructive please and follow forum rules :)

During some battles I enjoy leading with SubTauntUnefezant

Since its very frail I suggest an Impish/Relaxed nature and boosting SP.DEF, Speed, and HP

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Super Luck

-Substitute
-U-Turn
-Taunt
-Detect/Protect

I usually Detect to see what the set up is. Sub then Taunt. Then use U-Turn to GTFO.

Zoroark is better off with Nasty Plot instead of HP Psychic, and it gets Extrasensory.

Honestly I had no idea it got extrasensory lol. And yes while Nasty plot does work well on him/her its not necessaraly better due to the amount of priority moves out there right now theres a good chance she'll never get an attack in. Though I'm not saying you are incorrect, you aren't correct either, its very circumstancial (<-probably spelt wrong lol).

And that Unefezant idea is neat I never thought of using it like that.

Dasutodasu (Garbodor)
Impish, Black Sludge/Leftovers
Ability: Anything but Weak Armor

-Spikes
-Toxic Spikes
-Protect
-Gunk Shot
I mostly just use this for setting up Spikes and Toxic Spikes, Gunk Shot and protect are just filler moves.

Okay this lead is just plain awesome in terms of team sweep.

Thundurus @ Focus Sash
Trait: Prankster
4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Taunt
-Nasty Plot
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power [Ice]

You become a beast with Nasty Plot. Try it. Priority Taunt is also awesome.

Espeon is better not as a lead, for you can make the opponent set up on themselves.

Another Lead
Breloom @ Focus Sash
Technician
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly
-Bullet Seed
-Spore
-Mach Punch
-Focus Punch / Rock Tomb / Stone Edge / Swords Dance

You can see what this lead does. Sash makes you get your spores up 100%, or if you know that they'll taunt you you just kill with Bullet Seed.

Zoraork pairs awesomely with Gengar. COME! Hit me with a psychic, ghost, or dark attack.

I find that Whinsicott is a good lead because of prankster
Evs: 252Def/ 248 SDef/ 8 Spe
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)/ Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
Taunt
Encore
Leech Seed
Substitute
This pokemon is a beast and annoying at the same time.

Lopunny @ Choice Band
Klutz
200 HP 252 speed (the rest in attack)
-Drain Punch
-Ice Punch
-Magic Coat
-Switcheroo

Noob here,
What's the point of a "lead Pokemon" if you could just put out your strongest Poke to start out with?
I'm bad with tactics...

There is no such thing as a strongest pokemon in your team. They all have a job to do.

They are mainly used to set up Stealth Rock, and prevent the foe from doing so.

I love using a Ferrothorn lead. Although lately a LOT of people have been using a Banded one.

Tyranitar
Item: leftovers
Ability: sand stream
Nature: calm/Impish
Moves: Stealth rocks, Taunt, dragon tail and brick break
I use this set in this order taunt, to stop them setting up then stealth rocks. I use dragon tail to get rid of any potential threats and brick break to break a reflect or light screen if they used one of these moves before you could taunt.

Its also good if u have a exadrill as both abilitys make use of sand

My lead is Ferrothorn i love it

Moves:
gyro ball
toxic
stealth rock
power whip

since ferrothorn is so slow gyro ball usually does pretty good damage against most pokemon

T-Tar isn't the best Poké to get Rocks up.
Hippopatas is better since it gets Rocks, and is Bulkier.

Droughtails and Drizzletoad are common.
Same with all other weather based teams.
Eruufun is good because of Prankster.

Impish Forretress is better.
And Stealth Rocks will help you more than Spikes.
