Ah. Gorebyss' forgotten cousin. Huntail. How does it fare against Gorebyss, in terms of competitive Pokemon battling? Let's take a look.

First up, Huntail, (And Gorebyss, for that matter) gets access to Shell Smash. Shell Smash raises a Pokemon's Speed, Special Attack and Attack by 2 stages, essentially doubling it. However, it comes with a price. It will lower your Special Defence and your Defence stat by a stage. Remember, if you're using this set, Huntail can't learn the move- it's Clamperl that can! In addition, you must have this in immediately after Politoad, (Let's face it, you're not going to be using Kyogre in OU). If the opponent has set up entry hazards, then just forget Shell Smash, and just abuse the raised Speed due to Rain + Swift Swim. The Stealth Rock/Spikes will break the Sash. You could use this as a lead like Cloyster, if you don't mind it without Rain, but be sure to run Jolly, if so. Anyway, Shell Smash will allow for sweeps of teams, similar to Cloyster. Waterfall is there for a massive STAB move, and Confuse Ray is there to annoy the opponent, as well as abusing the speed gain due to Swift Swim.

Coming with another set, discuss Huntail below!

Seeing as Huntail has... average defensive stats, and you're trying to do some damage with it, why not give it a White Herb and just throw some EVs into its defensive stats? I used Gorebyss for a while, and never had a need for a Focus Sash, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on Huntail. It'd need a little more prediction, but that doesn't seem like to hard of a task.
