Tier - BorderLine

Summary:

Ursaring is fast, strong, and packs a huge physical movepool. It can be used as an effective sweeper and can cause serious damage to your team if your not prepared.

Counters: Ursaring has such a diverse movepool it can take out nearly any pokemon if you give it the chance, however to defeat it, the easiest way is to outspeed it with something like azelf, starmie. Basically revenge killing it is the best way, since alot of pokemon do fear some of Ursarings sets.

Switching in with Gengar or Mismagius would be a good idea to use on choice sets due to them negating earthquake and any fighting/normal attack. But if they predict rightly your toast. Rhyperior can wall a ursaring "better" than alot of pokes, it may not be able to switch into a swords dance ursaring but it stands a good chance of beating it in a 1on1.

Gyarados shouldn't be too much of a problem but you might want to carry Thunder punch, this would cover Vaporeon too.
Skarmory can wall Ursaring well, that is if Ursaring doesn't have Fire Punch, it can roost of most his attacks and whirlwind away his Swords Dances.

In conclusion i think that the best way and the safest way to beat an Ursaring is to revenge kill it with something faster.

Dancing Bear

Ursaring @ Leftovers/Life orb
Guts
252 HP/ 252 atk/ 6 Speed
Adamant (+Atk - Sp atk)/ Jolly (+ Speed - Sp atk)
-Sword Dance
-Return/Body Slam
-Earthquake
-Fire Punch/ Close Combat

This set is the ultimate overkill, if you can set up successfully it will deal heavy damage to your opponents pokemon. Ursaring already has a massive atk of 394, and having sword dance increase it further it will surely cause a few problems.

You might want to carry body slam instead of return since Ursaring is pretty slow and could use the paralysis support. Fire punch are for those annoying steel types, however close combat works fairly well too. This set will destroy slow walls, it can OHKO Heatran with EQ, and really 2HKO most walls with a neutral attack after one SD.

Below is an example of just how strong Ursaring is.
After just 1 Swords Dance it can (Without Guts) :

2HKO Max Def/HP Jirachi (Fire Punch)
2HKO Max Def/HP Skarmory (Fire Punch)
2HKO Max Def/HP Cresselia (Return)
2HKO Max Def/HP Celebi (Fire Punch)
2HKO Max Def/HP Hippowdon (Return)
1HKO Max Def/HP Bronzong (Fire Punch)
1HKO Max Def/HP Forretress (Fire Punch)
1HKO Max Def/HP Swampert (Return)

Choice Band Bear

Ursaring @ Choice Band
Guts/Quick Feet
252 speed/ 252 atk/ 6 HP
Adamant (+Atk - Sp atk)/ Jolly (+ Speed - Sp atk)
-Crunch
-Return/Body Slam
-Earthquake
-Fire Punch/ Close Combat

Like the set above, this set can do serious damage to your opponent. Without the need to Set up, it can take action much faster than the sword dancing bear.
You have a wide variety of moves to use, but with this set its more about prediction.

Both the abilities work well with this set, guts can give that attack boost, while quick feet can give that speed boost Ursaring badly needs. I recommend you go for jolly if you want to have quick feet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ScarfBear
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ursaring @ Choice Scarf
Guts/Quick Feet
252 speed/ 252 atk/ 6 HP
Jolly (+ Speed - Sp atk)
-Crunch
-Return/Body Slam
-Earthquake
-Fire Punch/ Close Combat

To make the best out of Ursaring's speed it is recommended that you have quick feet ability. This normally ferociously slow bear just got faster.
With his enourmous attack power and move pool + all this extra speed, this set is designed to cause your opponent a few problems. It is a little less reliable than the 2 sets above since it doesn't pack as much power in its attack, but at least this set won't have the trouble of being outsped and killed off by infernapes.

Like the Choice Band Set it has a wide variety of moves to choose from but it comes down to the prediction. This set works well revenge killing.

Quick Feet Bear
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.gamehiker.com/subspace/images/6/61/Ursaring.png
Ursaring @ Toxic orb
Quick Feet
252 speed/ 252 atk/ 6 HP
Jolly (+ Speed - Sp atk)
-Swords Dance
-Facade
-Earthquake
-Fire Punch/ Crunch

Ursaring's speed with quick feet is 343; the same as infernapes. Swords Dance is for the late game sweeps, but overall this set is one of the best Ursaring sets, firstly because of the amazing speed boost that this slow bear needs, but also because of the facade power, not to mention after just 1 Swords Dance almost nothing can survive a facade. (Apart from those steel type pokes which can easily be taken down by Fire Punch)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sleep Talking Bear
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.gamehiker.com/subspace/images/6/61/Ursaring.png
Ursaring @ leftovers
Guts
252 HP/ 252 atk/ 6 Speed
Adamant (+Atk - Sp atk)
-Rest
-Return/Body Slam
-Earthquake/Fire punch
-Sleep Talk

This set is designed to make your bear last longer, unlike the sets above. Sleep talking will deal a good amount of damage, even more because of the guts effects whilst your asleep. This is another set which would rely on paralysis support.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FlameBear
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.gamehiker.com/subspace/images/6/61/Ursaring.png
Ursaring @ Flame Orb
Guts
252 Speed/ 252 atk/ 6 HP
Jolly (+Speed - Sp atk)
-Crunch/Swords Dance
-Return/Body Slam
-Earthquake
-Fire Punch/Close Combat

A set designed to give you the full potential of Ursarings attack, guts boost itself will allow you to 2HKO Skarmory and maybe OHKO forretress, but to have swords dance on top of that???!? Almost nothing can survive 2 turns with this beast.

Swords Dance is for the additional power, but crunch will help you on those Gengar/Mismagius Switch ins. Fire Punch is recommended over Close combat to deal with threats like Skarmory and Jirachi. Earthquake is to hit those high in defense rock types and those annoying heatrans.

Other options:

Ursaring like ive said 100 times now has a huge physical movepool, it can learn good moves like Thunder Punch, Nightslash, payback, Hammer Arm, Close Combat, Focus Punch and Stone edge.

Opinion:

You dont see this guy very much in the current OU metagame, but if he is used correctly and effectively he will cause your opponent's team a few problems, he has a huge physical movepool which some of these sets above use to there advantage. His attack without denial is massive, along with guts and Swords Dance. The only thing that i think lets Ursaring down is its speed.

i am cool

Excellent work Safe! I think Quick Feet should take precedence over a Choice Scarf, however, as it's generally used for late game cleaning, so the effects from the Toxic Orb won't matter too much.

Keep up the fantastic work!
