Chatot

Summary:

Most Used Set:

Chatot's most used has to be his effective Nasty Plot and Encore set. The reason behind this are Chatot's below average defenses which don't allow it many opportunities to set up. With Encore Chatot can come in on bulky pokemon who just used a supportive move or slow sweepers who just boosted one of their stats, Encore them and proceed to Nasty Plot on the switch.

Usual Counters:

Chatot is genarally hard to counter considering the great coverage it has. Chansey is the only pokemon that is not 2HKOed by any of Chatots moves after a Nasty Plot and Life Orb boost. To counter Chatot one must genarallly need prediction. Faster pokemon like Ninetails or Electrode as long as they both switch on their resistant attacks. Both can get rid of Chatot from there with a Fire Blast and Thunderbolt.

Types of Teams Pokemon Is Used On:

Chatot is best used on offensive NU/UU teams. Chatot's typing allows it to come in unscathed on Ghost and Ground moves allowing it to efficiently set up. Chatot's Encore and Nasty Plot set is the most efficient it can run allowing it to set up on slower pokemons it couldn't under normal circumstances.

Ability:Tangled Feet/ Keen Eye
EVs:4 Def/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
Nature:Timid/ Modest

-Encore
-Nasty Plot
-Hyper Voice
-Heat Wave

After achieving a Nasty Plot Chatot is able to destroy teamsby itself. Encore and Nasty Plot are the center of this set allowing Chatot to Nasty Plot as your oponent most likely switches. Hyper Voice is there for STAB allowing Chatot to 2HKO all the UU's premiere walls except no matter what EV spread they run except for Chansey. Heat Wave is there to hit Steels and allow for neutral coverage against Ghosts.

Both of Chatot's abiities dot bring much use to it. Tangled Feet is preferred over Keen Eye based on the fact that very few competitive battlers run an accuracy lowering move on their pokemon. Tangled Feet isn't much use either but they gimmicky sets that use confusion to help them set up, and if your oponent decides to attack they only have a 50% chance of hitting as long as you are confused.

EVs are for maximum firepower while achieving a speed tie with other Base 91 Pokemon. One can choose Modest over Timid but is generally not recommended. Life Orb achieves those crucial OHKOes and 2HKOes that make this Pokemon a strong contender.

-Nasty Plot
-Hyper Voice
-Heat Wave
-Hidden Power Grass/ Hidden Power Water/ Hidden Power Fighting

While the previous set allowed Chatot to set up, this set takes a more offensive approach by receiving more coverage via Hidden Power. Nasty Plot allows Chatot to sweep, Hyper Voice is there for generic STAB, Heat Wave covers Steels and at last we have three different options for Hidden Powers. Each of these three options has its benefits.

Hidden Power Grass allows Chatot to OHKO Lunatone, Solrock and Rock/Water pokemon who walled the last set, while still 2HKOing Aggron. Hidden Power water OHKOes both Lunatone, Solrock and Probopass while it OHKOes Aggron but it lowers your speed IV by 1 point. Hidden Power Fighting OHKOes Rock/Water Pokémon, Aggron and Probopass but it 2HKOes Lunatone and Solrock and it also loiwers your speed IV. Should you run Hidden Power Fighting or Hidden Power Water use the alternate EV spread since running max speed is useless.

The alternate EV spread gives 299 HP which allows Chatot to be able to use Life Orb 11 times as long as it doesnt get any damage. Speed reaches 301 which outspeeds Base 100 Pokéemon without a positive nature.

Ability:Tangled Feet/ Keen Eye
EVs:4 Def/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
Nature:Modest/ Timid

-Hyper Voice
-Heat Wave
-Hidden Power Grass
-U-Turn

Chatot has enough Special Attack to pull off a Choice Specs set. This set allows Chatot to hit right off the bat and not waste a turn boosting up. This set can surprise some of its counters thinking they can come in on a Nasty Plot while they get OHKOed by Hyper Voice with Stealth Rock.

Hyper Voice is the STAB seeing as Chatot's signature move Chatter doesn't have enough power and it doesn't help with coverage. Heat Wave hits Steels while also hitting ghosts for neutral damage. Hidden Power Grass still OHKOes Solrock and Lunatone. U-turn serves for scouting while doing damage.

EVs are plain 252/252 with the 4 in defence to lower Stealth Rock damage. Modest is recommended to power up its Special Attack, but Timid is also usable.

Ability:Tangled Feet/ Keen Eye
EVs:4 HP/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
Nature:Timid/ Modest

-Substitute
-Nasty Plot
-Hyper Voice
-Heat Wave

Chatot is normally stopped cold by faster pokemon who can kill it such as Scarfed Hitmonlee, Ninetails and Electrode. With the boost from Salac Berry Chatot can remedy that. With the speed boos Chatot reaches 463 enough to outspeed all Base 90 and lower pokemon with a Choice Scarf.

Substitute is to protect from status and allow for Salac Berry to activate. Nasty Plot is to boost his average Special Attack. Hyper Voice is here for power and being a reliable STAB. Heat Wave hits steels and soundproof Pokémon such as Electrode.

This set also contains that simple 252/252 set. 4 EVs were put into HP to allow Salac Berry to activate after 3 substitutes and not 3. This set is very weak to priority moves considering all of them break Chatot's substitutes and most of them can OHKO after just one substitute.

Other Options:

Chatot doesn't get many options apart from what was stated. Chatot can make use of Chatter but its low power and not hitting anything more than Hyper Voice genarally makes that a poor option. The confusion from it can help to set up but it is not reliable. Chatot gets sing but its low accuracy may mean Chatot's death seeing as Chatot can't take many hit with its mediocre defenses.

Opinion:

Chatot shouldn't be overlooked for being such a small and cute Pokémon. After a Nasty Plot it plows through the whole UU and NU metagame except for Chansey, who can be taken care of by a Physical Attacker. One shouldn't bring in Chatot early in the game if they expect to sweep seeing how priority moves wreck him the most.

Quite excellent. Will reserve for further edits tomorrow.

BTW, you did a gob of a professional this time, which was quite impressing; you sure improved from your last analysis. You just need to work a tad on 'when to use commas'.
