Summary:

Most Used Set:

Ledian most commonly used set is the Encore Passer, which allows Ledian to set up on walls that don't have many offensive options, such as Chansey. Ledian can boost from there and Baton Pass the boost to an
offensive Pokémon that can utilize it better such as Azumarill or Swellow who can be devastating with the boost. Ledian's above average Special Defense allows it to take many weak non Super Effective Special Attacks and get a Swords Dance or Agility and pass it.

Usual Counters:

It's usually hard to counter Ledian since the majority of the time it will be Baton Passing any boost it got. Considering that, they are some good counters that can come in unharmed and threatened Ledian with a Roar or a STAB attack. Steelix comes in on any move Ledian can throw at it and laughs at it as it Roars any previous boosts Ledian had achieved. Steelix has to be careful not to come in on a Focus Blast from Choice Specs Ledian since it 2HKOes Steelix's standard set. Chansey or Registeel can be used to counter the Choice Specs with their big Special Defense investment. The support set can be walled and taken care off by any Steel that can dish out damage. For the Swords Dance set once can generally use a bulky water or a strong physical wall such as Regirock who can finish Ledian off with a 4x Super Effective Stone Edge. For the most part countering Ledin should be an easy affair, one should start worrying when Ledian successfully passes a boost to a dangerous sweeper.

Types of Teams Pokemon Is Used In:

Ledian is most successful on Baton Passing teams that need a Pokémon who can take weak Special Attacks and be able to get a boost and pass it without putting much risk to itself. Ledian can also fullfill the role of starting the baton pass chain by Encoring Stealth Rock or any other non damaging move Agilitying and then Baton Passing to any of its team mates.

In Depth:

Ability:Early Bird
EVs:248 HP/ 8 SpD/ 252Spe
Nature:Timid

-Swords Dance/ Agility
-Baton Pass
-Encore
-Bug Buzz/ Roost

This is Leadian's most successful set and for a reason. With this set Ledian can set up on unsuspecting foes who try to set up or don't bother to attack. Ledian has a decent Speed stat taht allows it to come in on resisted moves Encore them and proceed to set up. One has the option to choose Swords Dance or Agility. Both benefit any Pokémon in general but each has its uses. Baton Pass serves to pass the stats to a more deadly Pokémo, while Encore grants Ledian those free turns to be able to set up. For the last move one has two options, Bug Buzz or Roost. Bug Buzz doesn't let Ledian be screwed by Taunt and offers a nice STAB altough its coming off a very weak Special Attack. Roost takes Ledians Flying type for one turn and recovers 50% HP which can be useful against weak Special Attacks.

The EVs allow Ledian to have maximum Speed and be able to outspeed Base 95 Pokémon without a positive nature. 248 HP gives Ledian an odd stat and allows it to switch into Stealth Rock three times instead of the usual two. The rest of the EVs were placed in Special Defense to provide some bulk.

For the Item one has two options, Leftovers or Focus Sash. Leftoevrs give Ledian constant recover and prevent any damage from weather effects such as Hail or Sandstorm. Focus Sash guarantess Ledian will get a boost as long as you use it as a lead or keep Stealth Rock off the field.

Ability:Swarm
EVs:248HP/ 8 SpD/ 252 Spe
Nature:Timid

-Substitute
-Baton Pass
-Bug Buzz
-Agility/ Swords Dance

This set is a little harder to pull off because of the lack of Encore which gives Ledian those timely oportunities to boost up. This set main purpose is to be able to pass +2 Speed and +1 Attack or +2 Attack and +1 Speed to another Pokémon. Substitute protects from status and activates any berry its using after three Substitutes without Stealth Rock and one with Stealth Rock. Baton Pass is there to be able to pass the stats to another Pokémon. Bug Buzz is there for STAB and because after Ledian activates any berry its holding Swarm also activates boostin Bug Buzze's power by 50%. Agility is prefered here so Ledian can pass the boost without having conflicts with any faster Pokémon. Swords Dance can also be used to pass +2 Attack.

Liechi Berry and Petaya Berry should be used with Agility while Salac Berry should be used with Swords Dance. EVs allows any Berry to activate after three substitutes without Stealth Rock and one with Stealth Rock. Max Speed is to outspeed Base Speed 95 Pokémon without a positive nature. The rest of the EVs were poured into Special Defense.

http://www.pokesho.com/img_icon_us/i_ledian.gifSwords Dance @ Life Orb
Ability:Early Bird
EVs:252 Atk/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spe
Nature:Jolly

-Swords Dance
-Aerial Ace
-Brick Break
-Baton Pass/ Double Edge/ Bug Bite

Ledian's pathethic Base 35 Atk won't be hurting anything without any boost. Swords Dance attempts to remedy this by doubling it. After a Swords Dance and Life Orb Ledian's attack becomes roughly 440. Swords Dance boost Ledian's Attack stat. Aerial Ace is there as STAB, Brick Break hits Steels and Rocks. For the last move Baton Pass is recommended since most of the time Ledian won't get to sweep even with a Swords Dance so Baton Pass is there to pass it to another member. Double Edge is there because of Ledian shallow movepool and since it has a strong Base Power. At last we have Bug Bite which can be used to hit Physchics and for STAB.

Life Orb is needed to provide that boost that Ledian really needs, but Leftovers can be an option if youd on't like Ledian losing too much health. Early Bird is recommended as an option because of the lack of a strong Physical Bug move. The EVs are standard for sweeper, the ither Evs were placed in Special Defense since placing them in HP would give an even stat meaning more enrty hazards recoil.

http://www.pokesho.com/img_icon_us/i_ledian.gifChoiced Bug @ Choice Specs
Ability:Swarm
EVs:252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spe
Nature:Timid

-Bug Buzz
-Hidden Power Flying
-Focus Blast
-U-turn

This set is a twist in Ledian, the priority of this set is to attack right off the bat and hit as hard as you can while you can. This set can surprise many of its normal counters like Steels or Phazers by being able to 2HKO some of them via a Focus Blast or Bug Buzz. Bug Buzz brings in STAB as well as being a good attacking move. Hidden Power is there fro secondary STAB and allows Ledian to hit other Bug Pokémon for Super Effective damage. Focus Blast provides excellent coverage as well as being a high Base Power move. U-turn is there mainly for scouting oponents counters for Ledian and because of Ledian's poor movepool.

EVs are a simple 252/252 with the other one placed in Special Defense so that Ledian can switch in to Stealth Rock 2 times without dying. Nature is Timid to outplace Base 95 Speed Pokémon without a boosting nature. Swarm was chosen in this place to boost Bug BUzz's power after getting down to less than 33% HP which is a feat that can be easily achieved taking into account Ledian's 4x weak to Stealth Rock/

Other Options:

Ledian's options are limited but it can pull of a suport set with Roost, Light Screen, Bug Buzz and Toxic. Ledian also gets Ice Punch and Thunderpunch which both can fit on the Swords Dance set but are generally a poor option considering Ledian doesnt get more coverage with them.

Opinion:

Ledian makes a good option for a Baton Passing team often surprising the oponent by being able to boost and pass the boost to a more suited Pokémon. In general Ledians x4 weakness to Stealth Rock and its shallow movepool makes it a poor option for a team which isnt capable of removing Stealth Rock or preventing it from everr getting on the field.
