Regigigas

Summary:

Most Used Set:

Regigigas is a somewhat pathetic Pokemon in most battles. With the ability Slow Start, it can't really do much in way of attack for the first few turns it is in battle. The most practical moveset that it is seen with is a defensive moveset that focuses on stalling out the first few turns that Regigigas is in play until Slow Start ends.

Other than that, Regigigas can work well with offensive movesets if there is a Pokemon to Skill Swap Slow Start onto, Regigigas is home free to attack with purely offensive movesets without being hindered by Slow Start.

Usual Counters:

Anything that can outspeed the Pokemon that Regigigas is using Skill Swap with and can set up will, almost without a doubt, set up on and then destroy Regigigas. For general walling though, Ghost types do well, such as Spiritomb, and Gengar. Note however, that once Slow Start has ended, or, for that matter, Skill Swapped, Regigigas is borderline unstopable.

Types of Teams Pokemon Is Used On:

Offensive teams, and teams centering around Skill Swap, for the most part. Thus slow and special attacking Pokemon capable of learning Skill Swap are your friend. Slobro, and Cresselia can both work well as a Pokemon to Skill Swap with Regigigas, though Slobro fits Regigigas tier wise and is thus more commonly seen.

Power Sweep!@ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Slow Start
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Nature: Adamant ( - Special Attack + Attack ) / Jolly ( - Special Attack + Speed )

- Superpower / Return
- Zen Headbutt
- Stone Edge / Earthquake
- Thunderpunch / Fire Punch / Ice Punch

Regigigas is an insanely powerful Pokemon. With a base Attack of 160 and a base Speed of 100, Regigigas is a Pokemon with powerful sweeping potential. Sadly this is hindered by one thing: the ability Slow Start. The conclusion? Get rid of Slow Start! For this moveset you should pair Regigigas with a slow and defensive user of Skill Swap. Slobro is a perfect candidite for this though Slowking also pulls it off to some extent.

In double battles you aren't limited to using a move on your opponent's Pokemon. Your own Pokemon can hit each other with their own moves as well. So hit Regigigas with Skill Swap! Get a Pokemon such as Slobro ( whom Regigigas is commonly paired with for this moveset ) to Skill Swap away Slow Start and then sweep with ease.

Superpower is not that recommended for this moveset, as to lose the stat decreases you will have to switch, and then you will have to use Skill Swap again, thus if you are running Superpower consider having multiple Pokemon in your team that know Skill Swap, though Slobro is the bulkiest and thus best Skill Swapper, especially as, unlike other Pokemon capable of learning Skill Swap, Slobro doesn't suffer from the negative effects of Slow Start that badly.

All of the moves that this Regigigas moveset uses are offensive. With a massive attack stat, all Regigigas needs to do is have proper type coverage against most types to sweep through the opponent's entire team.

Sub Sweep!@ Leftovers
Ability: Slow Start
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Spd
Nature: Adamant ( - Special Attack + Attack )

- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Return
- Thunderpunch / Fire Punch / Ice Punch

Another moveset to be used in coordination with a Slobro or another user of Skill Swap (Cresselia works well in OU) comes the Substitute / Focus Punch combonation moveset. Regigigas has powerful defenses, so it's not going to be easy for the opponent to break its Substitute. Focus Punch from Regigigas finishes off the opponent while Slobro who should be in play can either switch or slowly whittle down the opponent.

The combonation of Focus Punch and Substitute is, to say the least, formidable in the hands of a Regigigas with an attack stat of 460. Regigigas is a serious powerhouse when it's using this moveset.

Other Options:

Choice Band is always an option for an insanely powerful physical attacker, not that Regigigas needs it, and a Choice Specs option is open for Regigigas, though it's pretty weak to be using it with Skill Swap open.

Opinion:

Regigigas is easily out of the NU tier in the Double Battling metagame. It can have an insane Attack stat with relative ease, 160 being almost double the average base Attack stat, and in NU being sky high above it! Regigigas is powerful and much less overlooked in the Double Battle metagame than in Single Battle, where it is borderline useless. Regigigas is really powerful and perfectly useable in Double Battling.

No, as in Pokémon that pair up with it. You should post that on every set.

Edit: If this is still active, I'll add that in.
IAC, I was inactive on TU for a while, but I'll try to finish this if the project is still active.

Pair it with Jumpluff. WORRY SEED.

Why the **** would you want Worry Seed? That does ******* nothing lol

Worry seed negates the ability of the Pokemon it's being used on, replacing it with Insomnia, thus negating Slow Start.
