The only Mario game I ever owned was New Super Mario Bros.
I had a lot of Mario games... Let's see... I had Super Mario World, Mario Kart: Double Dash, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Hoops 3 on 3, Super Smash Bros Melee (that has to count), Super Mario 64, Yoshi's Island (that has baby Mario in it, so I'm pretty sure it counts), and Super Mario Sunshine. I'm sure there are some more that I can't remember...
I'm cool like the rain and hot like the sun, I'm a neon rainbow and you're no fun~
Spoiler!
The only Mario game I ever owned was New Super Mario Bros.
Spoiler!
As a kid, I was addicted to Star Fox 64, but I did have Super Smash Bros. 64 and I also had Super Smash Bros. Melee. Another Mario game that I had was Mario Kart Double Dash. In that game I would ALWAYS be Paratroopa and Waluigi. And I had Super Mario Bros Deluxe for the Gameboy. Oh, I also had Mario Party 4. Which, in my opinion, was the best Mario Party game. My Mario childhood was in no way compared to all the Mario games that I play today! :mario:

Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64 DS, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart Double Dash, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Power Tennis (yes I know I played Mario Sport games shoot me :P), Mario Toadstool Golf (or whatever it was called on the GC).
I only had SMB3, but I did have SMB2, but I lost it.

Aww dang, it's true...
If by "kid" you mean "8th grader whose only past experience to video games was Harry Potter and Backyard Sports . . ." Mario Kart Wii and Galaxy. (Those were the two that showed me the true power of video games |D ).
Oh, and there's the Super Mario World that I played on other peoples' Game Boys a few times in elementary school, idk if that counts since I didn't know what was going on and couldn't beat more than about two levels ever.
If by kid you mean young kid, then I had an NES with Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong. I also knew a girl who had a Nintendo 64 with Mario 64. I had a GameCube too with Mario Sunshine. Mario Kart for DS, Wii, GBA, and NSMB for DS and Wii. I also had Mario Galaxy.
I guess Super Mario Strikers and Mario Party 6
Here are the games I remember owning:
Super Mario World
New Super Mario Bros
Super Mario 64 (DS)
Super Paper Mario
Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door
And that's it. Unless you count me buying Super Mario RPG Legend of the seven stars on my old Wii. Then uh, that's it. XD
That Mario Mini thing for GBA, Yoshi's Island if you count that, and probably some more that I can't remember at this point in time.
