1. When I was like eleven and twelve, I used to draw comic strips. You know, the things in the back of the newspaper that nobody but me reads anymore? Anyway, I needed to stick some sort of signature in the corner - 'cause that's what people do with their art - and the first thing I came up with was a portmanteau of my first and last name, which I thought was
insanely clever at the time. I used it for a while, including as usernames on the Super Mario Wiki and maybe a few other places - which was obviously
incredibly stupid, but fortunately for me I wasn't interesting enough for anyone to cyberstalk. If you go back far enough in my YouTube history or know what my real name is you'll be able to figure out what that was, but I ain't telling.
2. Dimenticare: Some time when I was maybe like fifteen I finally decided the portmanteau was stupid, and decided to come up with something better. So the first thing that comes to mind is my favorite word from Italian class,
dimentico, which I guess was funny or something because the teacher could ask you what it meant and you could reply "I forget" and move right along. Ended going with the infinitive
dimenticare instead because it sounded a bit better. Also I've met like zero people who can pronounce it properly. Ya just say all the letters in the word, guys, there's no silent 'e' at the end, it's not that hard.
3. 2andaHalfStooges (or any version of that which fits a site's character limit): Oooooooh boy. Brother and I made a YouTube channel once, and once again were in need of a name. Brother had (has?) this weird Three Stooges obsession - and by the way I've STILL not seen any of their comedy, almost five years later - and after a while of screwing around trying to get a variation that wasn't already claimed (neither of us liked appending numbers to the end then, thank god, since I like it even less now) we came up with that; the "half" part has been a source of endless amusement to a BUNCH of people i've ran into over the years (@Badootel ). For the first long while we tried to justify it by saying our sister and our dog showed up in videos infrequently enough to only count as a half; nowadays I just say "why not." Ditched it about a year ago because it is REALLY weird to introduce yourself with a name that suggests you have friends when you don't (brother lost interest in making let's plays pretty early on and even told me he was going to delete the channel once . . . that sure happened), as if the name itself wasn't weird enough already. (There was also a Two Stooges fanfiction dot net account, made around the same time, but I think I logged into that like twice ever so it's not really worth mentioning.)
4. Dragonite: In early 2012 I discovered this game called "Pokémon," which turned out to be kind of good, not sure if you've heard of it before. Later that summer I ended up this site called "the Super Skarmory Forums," not sure if you've heard of those either, and saw a butt load of people who had Pokémon-inspired names. Which I decided was a good idea. Initially considered taking "Magikarp" as a username, since it wasn't already taken (wonder why) and because Magikarp, but then I decided I might not be taken very seriously (almost as if I would be otherwise) and went for "Dragonite" instead. Yeah, SS was the first site I used that name on; you don't have to believe me.
5. DragoniteSpam: So as it turns out, on any web site bigger than a spaghetti pot the name "Dragonite" is already going to be taken (plus some specific sites don't allow verbatim Pokémon names, period). I don't rightly know where the first place I used this was, but I still didn't like appending numbers for no reason and I wasn't particularly crazy about the "Pokémon species+positive adjective" naming convention of the Pokétuber community (sorry, like 90% of this site) so I went the opposite way: "spam." "AmazingDarmanitan," "EpicestSunkernEver," "TotallyAwesomeStaravia . . " "Dragonite. Spam."
6. Dovahnite, DOVAHNITE, et al. Because Skyrim. Used mainly in places I don't take seriously (Skype, Steam) and Thuum.org. I feel kind of bad because a lot of people put actual effort into their usernames on Thuum, and I . . . kind of . . . didn't. Probably'll be sticking mainly to Dragonite/DragoniteSpam, though, since "dovahnite"'s kind of awkward to type for some reason and tends to get weird looks from people.
7. AltariasWing: Sockpuppet on Reddit I don't think I've ever actually used for anything.
8. Tiberia: Started writing a story back in December, kind of, and she's one of the characters. Early on I used this name on places I
really wanted to stay anonymous, but, well, this site kind of brought that to a screeching halt. Made that account a week or so before the merge and had in mind using it and seeing how long it would take anyone to notice the D in the avatar - this was back when we still weren't supposed to do alts - but I could never be bothered and now most of you know who it is anyway.
I think that's all of them. Might be more that I'm forgetting.
