This article gives you ideas of how to use Unown in battle in the Pokémon Black, Pokémon White and Pokemon B2W2 Games. It lists popular movesets used by competitive battlers, as well as a description on how to use each set to help you understand why the moves were chosen. Gen 5: Overview

Say hello to a Pokemon that has gone through 4 generations and still is considered to be one of the absolute worst Pokemon ever existed. Unown has absolutely abysmal stats and has access to only ONE move, Hidden Power. Even crap like Caterpie has access to three moves. Thanks to Hidden Power´s new dynamics of being purely special, its 72 Base attack is literally useless. 48 Speed means that it can out speed Pokemon like Conkeldurr, Reniculus, and Ferrothorn, but it can´t do jack to most of them and gets OHKOed back thanks to its super awesome 48 Base HP. All in all, Unown is total garbage, even more so than Trubbish and Garbodor, and they are literally garbage. Why Game Freak........ why?

Unown literally has only one attack, Hidden Power. With Choice Specs, Hidden Power Ice 2HKOs Magikarp,and Feebas and OHKOs Hoppip, Caterpie, Weedle and Sunkern. OMFG THATS AMAZING! Hidden Power Dragon has neutral coverage and can beat the tar out of any big scary Dragons. Hidden Power Fighting rips apart Skitty, while Hidden Power Psychic is STAB.

What´s that? Unown still sucks? Well get this, it can hurt scary Pokemon too! Hidden Power Ice OHKOs Gliscor and Non-Yache Garchomp. HOLY FREAKING BALLS! Hidden Power Fighting can 2HKO Tyranitar, meaning that if it predicts the Tyranitar switch, Unown will wreck Tyranitar´s ass. Hidden Power Psychic can OHKO Conkeldurr, a Pokemon that Unown actually outspeeds. Now that´s freaking Uber status right there. Going even higher on the evolution chain, Hidden Power Ice can 2HKO Groudon. This means that Unown is completely viable in the Ubers environment.

Team Mates

The best teammates for Unown are Pokemon that can set up while your opponent is laughing their ass off for the fact that you´re using this piece of trash. Lucario, Darkrai, and Terrakion are prime examples of this, Terrakion recieving an attack boost from an incoming Dark attack aimed at the letter.

Stealth Rocks and entry hazards can help turn 23HKOs into 22HKOs. Ferrothorn and Foretress are great candidates for this, as they resist all of Unown´s weaknesses.

Other Options

Roar of Time: Unown doesn´t get that

Spacial Rend: Unown doesn´t get that either

Dark Void: Unown can´t use that

Psycho Break: Guess again?

Sacred Fire: you wish.

Usual Counters

Any special wall like Chansey or Blissey will destory Unown. Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Reuniculus also do fairly well against Unown, but they risk recieving fatal damage from its awesomeness. Magikarp risks a 2HKO, but once in, it can use its Splash attack and OHKO Unown.

It´s a goddamn letter, what do you expect from it?
